Just wanted to let you all know about the current status of the Dabo Designer. As of today, you can create a basic single-form application with full control over the appearance of the form and its controls, complete with editable code. This is a big milestone for the Designer!
In order to test this, I created an app that reads in my 'hold' file where my email server places suspected spam messages, parses that file into separate messages, and then displays the main headers in a grid. When you change records in the grid, the body of the selected message is displayed in an EditBox. Any valid messages can be saved to a file that I select; the rest are sent to the bit bucket.
So while this isn't the most complex app in the world, it is far from trivial, and it was created start-to-finish in the Designer. I'd say that if you have some time over the next couple of days off from work, grab the latest commits from either Subversion or the nightly builds, and start playing!
