One of Arnold's silly suggestions was the suggestion to throw at least 150 million dollars to shore up the hills around La Conchita -- the area that had the landslide in January. (I linked to an iFilm videotape of the landslide back then.)
The area has been landslide prone for thousands of years (including a recent slide in 1995 that killed a few in the area). There's no idea what it would take to shore up the area or even if it is doable.
How many homes are in La Conchita? 80.
With that money you could condemn the area, move each family to a million dollar home in Malibu, still have some cash left over and save lives.
