Microsoft redesigned:
1. vb (scrapped) 2. access (sold to cheapest bidder) 3. SQL Server (back end of choice for .NET and VFP developers) 4. VFP (microsoft's best client development tool (works well with LARGE datasets in VFP OR in SQL SERVER if additional security features are needed)) 5. .NET (microsoft's web development tool of choice)

Well, at least the fog in Redmond is starting to clear. Now that key language people are coming around on the usefulness of FoxPro's data handling, it's now just a matter of time before their new-found appreciation has them implementing one feature after the other.
What's important for us is that we don't get stuck having to re-write our applications again. It's just too easy to imagine MS doing something like building a better FoxPro than FoxPro but with a different command language/syntax/paradigm that would force us to re-write to use it. The word irony comes to mind, given that we chose the right door in the first place. But we're going to need more than just a comforting word: we're going to need a truly functional translator.
Fortunately, MS has time to do this right. Let's hope that's what happens!
Bill
