Yes. I am using default company when the forms openusing DE. Even using DE
or not DE, the new change will not allow to close database.

Development and learing is always incremental. When there is new version, we
have to just look at what are changes. Even a small change, in the MS view
point, may affect the develpoment in general. What is important is that
reporting every changes that have been made in new version is important. It
is true that it is their product. They can do they want. They may have
compeling reason to make changes. But what they are supposed to do is that
all changes should be reported.

It is like using only one database for all companies. Though workable, may
not be feasible in a longer run.
