That was just grandstanding... do you REALLY believe they would have gone for more... that is, going on record, voting for doing the right thing. Never happen!

The Democrats and everyone else with any sense were saying "don't you need more troops"? The Administration fired anyone who estimated troop levels higher than Rumsfeld wanted.
I'm not going to get into how it's always the presses fault if things don't go right and folks get called to account for their mistakes.
