I think that's part of the point. The Bush Administration didn't make sure we had enough troops to keep an insurgency from forming. We had enough to invade, but not enough to effectively occupy.
News is news and the headlines for some of those articles was over the top compared to what they actually reported.
I'm sure you don't think that if the press didn't cover the violence going on in Iraq it would somehow stop or do you?
