Dr King was correct in petitioning the government. He was not creating
a situation where our enemies were strenghthened... the same cannot be
said of war protesters.

You are right, that NOT EVERYONE with a different point of view hates
America and wants to destroy our culture... but some sure do. <g>

I disagree. The constitution protect citizens rights to peacefully
partition the government and have their grievances heard. Martin Luther

King Jr made use of these rights and freedoms to peacefully protest
against discrimination and inequality in the South. It was by his
efforts that many people and the government learned of the terrible
conditions of inequality built into society throughout the south. In
the end, Dr King won a hard earned victory for justice and equality for
all Americans. The same can be said about the peace protest that
occurred during the Vietnam war. The peace protest against the Vietnam
war had nothing to do with the final outcome of the war, but it did
bring awareness about many troubling aspect of the Vietnam war, and
probably helped bring an end to it.

Just because someone disagrees with you're point of view, doesn't mean
they are out to destroy America, or that they are traitors, as you like
to label Democrats, also known as Liberals or lefties, by some. America

is a free country, and citizens have a right to express their feelings.

I certainly hope that never changes.
