The oil is synthetic and cost about $20 per gallon. I guess the higher
compression ratio in the TDI diesel engine creates more heat than the
gasoline engine, requiring the special oil. The compression ration in
the TDI is 19 to 1. In the VW gasoline engine, the compression ration
is 9.5 to 1.
