Actually the 'religious right' has selected several hot-button issues that are key to the cultural war. You can't see this because you discount anyone who holds traditional values and believes we are each responsible for our actions and outcomes.

No, a Religious Righter has nothing to do with religion and connecting spiritually with God. The Religious Right movement is strictly politically motivated, and uses the church to fund, organize, and elect member to political office in the hopes of returning society back to a church ruled state. The Religious Right has selected certain hot button
issue to increase its membership and shape its membership politically.
Harry Truman, in his spiritual need to seek God's will, didn't have any
similarity to the Religious Right movement that began some thirty years ago, and has grown into what it is today.
