I just spent 1 1/2 hourse trying to get a network card to work in a new system I installed with redhat 8.0. part of the problem was being a newbie, part of the problem is OS related. It works now, but it should have worked sooner.
Anyway, I can see great advantages in a company using linux if
1. Computers are pre-installed with Linux at the factory, thereby eliminating incompatiblility errors.
2. There is at least one linux guru on staff. Here at the lab we have several linux programming gurus, but no real hardware/software IT guru.
Of course if my clients used linux already
1. limited virus exposure, if any 2. fewer pinheads installing their own software 3. few, if any, spyware installs
I will be using more file servers running under linux in the future, that's for sure.
