I was just going over the thread. Yes, I've used PostgreSQL, and it is my database of choice. It is free; although, there are also commercial version available for clients that need 24/7 support. If you are running a Linux Service, you already have it installed, otherwise, there is now a native Windows version of PostgreSQL with a decent installer.
