The law was originally to stop mayhem.

Adultery gives us bastard children
Bastard children give us poverty
Bastard children give us crime
Broken families put strain on law enforcement, school systems, welfare
systems, etc.

Adultery and sodomy laws aren't just for sh*ts and giggles. Imagine if
the sodomy laws were enforced, there would be hardly any AIDS or
HIV-infections.

How many lived would have been saved if the sodomy laws were enforced?
