Didn't I point to a Pew link that says 8% are "very interested", compared to 38% "very interested" in Iraq? No, it's not about money, it's about "attention diversion".
I do agree that the media is definitely after money, but that's only one part of two. The other is political power, although I suppose it could be argued they are one and them same. Nevertheless, it's wrong, wrong, a thousand times wrong. The media is a "public trust" and they have violated that trust beyond comprehension.

It's not just Jackson, they are obsessed with anything sex-related. Someone should publish a website that names the barons and details their sexual activities.
Side note: I'm here in Ft Lauderdale FL, the winter home of many very wealthy people (it's almost unbelievable, how much wealth is here). Now get this: the police will run you down and ruin your life if you go near a hooker on the street. But if you have $300 to spend, there are a ton of agencies that will send you whatever you want, right to your door. So they get all the sex they want, quietly, while "joe six-pack" goes to jail for the same exact thing. But that's an aside, thinking about the double-standard of it all.

Okay, I'll give them their due. In a free society, they should be allowed to publish whatever they want to publish. HOWEVER, we have an absolute need for information to make our decisions, and baring the existence any alternative whatsoever, these people have become our only information feed. THAT is what is so terribly wrong here.
