You are wrong. This is about money. People watch this on TV, buy magazines that write articles about it and listen to radio programs about that talk in detail about it. These so called "media barons" aren't hiding anything, they are giving people exactly what they are demanding and in the process making money. I can honestly say I have never watched, read, or discussed this case, or any of the other so called "high profile" cases in the last 5 years. But then, I also am not a target market for advertisers.
You want this to be more than it is......it's people. I bet if Pew Research was actually able to watch the viewing/reading/listening habits of those same people, the percentage would be far above 8%. Who they hell is going to admit to being infatuated with this sh*t. But in the end, media and news is about entertainment. Why do you think national news is covering Jackson and not your local school board meeting?

I really wish there were more time in a day so I could put it into investigating the media.
Here's just a couple of heavy hitter news links that consider the Michael Jackson story more important than the explosion in Iraq that killed 106 and wounded another 133, the biggest attack in 2 years. Look for yourself:
http://www.cnn.com/ http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ http://www.nydailynews.com/today/-/-/default.asp http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/home/main100.shtml
I have less than 0 interest in yet another sex scandal, and Pew Research says 8% of people are following the story "very closely" http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?ReportID=237. I suppose there are that many people with nothing at all better to do, but by any reasonable standard whatsoever, that story doesn't deserve top ranking over this event in Iraq.
What's going on? Smoke, smoke and more smoke. That's what the whole Social Security thing was, and now this. The handful of barons calling the shots on major news reporting priorities are working overtime to bring up "issues" to put in front of the Iraq debacle. That's what the Social Security "crisis" was all about, and that's what this Michael Jackson thing is all about. Who knows what they'll come with next, but clearly they are in over-drive to play down the disaster that is Iraq.
