Yes, it is.

using them to login as an admin? (assuming you used the same account

Possibly, but unlikely, I do very little FTP and my FTP accounts don't use
the admin password.
It's possible that the admin password was hacked. There are two things that
I have done since, which is to change the name of the admin account, and
secondly to give it a really strong password.
