I don't know if it will make you feel any better, but your experience is
still 1000x better than my experiences with Powweb and Interland. I will
spare the list the gory details, but at least you have a working server.
Powweb and Interland couldn't even manage to provide that, let alone
preserve data. And don't even get me started about their so called email
"services" :(
A tip ...
I use a $50 product called Webdrive (www.webdrive.com) that runs as a
service and allows one to map an externally hosted site to a local drive
letter on your PC. The plumbing is via FTP, SFTP, or FrontPage
extensions.
My wife maintains a non-profit website in FrontPage and after she makes
a lot of changes I "xcopy /s" her entire site back to a matching
directory structure on her local PC. Its as simple as that - one simple
xcopy command. I call that cheap insurance regardless of your choice of
hosting firms!
IMO, webdrive is one of those gotta have programs - definitely on my top
5 list of mission critical programs/utilities that I would hate to live
without.

I went in to make changes this morning via FrontPage, as it is a
FrontPage
site. They had hosed my extensions, and the extensions would not
reinstall
without removing them. Take another look at my "nice clean site". It was
completely hosed, but just didn't 'look' like it, because they didn't
enable
FrontPage on my FRONTPAGE site before moving it.
WHAT A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!!!
All my themes and navigation settings are gone. It is going to take me
all
weekend to put them back together, as there are a lot of puppy and
litter
pages to re-construct and I had relied on the FrontPage settings for the
navigation links.
I am VERY UPSET. These guys are INCOMPETENT. When I complained (holding
my
temper very tightly and NOT mis-behaving), they threatened to hang up on
me
and told me I didn't "understand" how servers work.
Don't tell me how great Lunarpages is. This is NOT a competent outfit.
