I have an anecdote about this 'taking responsibility'....
I sent to a friend a copy of that picture that's been floating around the net of some huge bearded guy sitting in front of his computer naked (in response to a fat joke leveled my way <s>). No nasty parts showing, other than a pretty impressive gut and a chest that many women would be proud to sport in a bikini top (sans follicles).
Got an irate email back about how this wasn't funny because this is the kind of pervert who stalks kids in chat rooms without their parents knowing about it.
The obvious stereotype mistake aside, I was thinking that maybe those parents need to take some of the responsibility themselves? It's not news that chat rooms are filled with all sorts of unsavory types - and to let kids wander around unsupervised would be like dropping them off in a rundown area of town so they can look for unadvertised raves on their own.
I asked the friend if they'd let their kid play with a running chainsaw without any instruction or supervision.... they didn't get the comparison.
