Tried that too..
Finally hooked this up to the internet this morning via modem.

Ended up having to remove the modem and reinstall it to get it to work, AND
it was working before..

And to think I've been bragging on SP2 and XP <grin>

Something about the failure of defrag COMPLETING, hosed my system.

I'm allmost to the point of wiping it and reinstalling, but not just yet...

Virgil:

It is a known problem that removing the Read Only attribute from folders
does not work. The check mark disappears, but reappears the next time you
look.

MS recommends (I've forgotten the KB reference) going into a (DOS) command
box and using the "attrib" command. That works, I've done it!
