Hi John,
You're the same old John that everyone knows too well. I don't suppose a Tiger can change its spots. I think I will leave it at that, as I'm sure you need to have the last word, and life is to short to get into a debate about anything with you.
Regards,

Yesterday, President Bush said the War on terrorism could not be won. Today he said the opposite. I suppose I could make a big deal about President Bush's flip-flop, as I sure Senator Kerry would never have heard the end of it, if he had made the same mistake, but you and I both know his statements are not a big deal, just politics. Besides, further discussion of President Bush's statement need not be debated as you have so eloquently clarified what President Bush really meant. <vbg> >>
I suppose you could make a "big deal" about it. The Democrats have certainly tried. To be fair, President Bush initially said the following:
"I don't think you can win" the war on terror. "But I think you can create conditions so that those who use terror as a tool are less acceptable in parts of the world."
Subsequently, he clarified and amplified his statement:
"In this different kind of war, we may never sit down at a peace table," Bush said. "But make no mistake about it, we are winning and we will win."
Liberals no doubt, will seize on this as some sort of Flip/Flop. In my opinion, and yes, as a conservative, I am biased - I see these statements as totally consistient. This in no way - is a Kerry type Flip/Flop. In this type of war, there will not be formal peace talks. And in this type of war, a victory can be claimed if nations, like France - get on board with the coalition of the willing. We have drawn a clear line in the sand - you are either with us or against us. Liberals don't like this sort of extreme. Liberals - too quickly - like to have infinite shades of gray to explain things away. This is why Liberals - in this day and age - do not have a clear sense of what is right and wrong. And with that in mind, the party of Ted Kennedy and John Kerry - don't have a consistient core set of values to work from.
Leadership is not about poll watching. As the Gov. from CA stated tonight - leadership is about making the tough decisions and sticking by them - in the face of opposition. Liberals on the other hand, would gladly mortgage the future of our country, our way of life - for the prize of winning an election.
I only became involved in this thread because of the liberal vomit that was being spewed by the thread-owner. In typical liberal fashion, once confronted with facts, he stuck his tail between his legs and snuck off. For somebody who prides himself in the "art of debate" - I would have to say that is indeed - poor execution of the art.
