No, not at all. There was an issue with noisy cooling fans in some of the G4 machines from 2 years ago, but no problems with heating. The new iMac design page states: "The speaker grill lets a trio of ultra-quiet blowers draw cool air into the system. These custom heat dissipaters can rotate at speeds as low as a few hundred RPM. Advanced thermal software spins them as fast or slow as needed and you’ll hardly ever notice them. Quieter than a whisper, the iMac G5 measures less than 25dB when idle (at the same distance of 50cm, a whisper in a quiet room measures more than 30dB). Nope. The cube was certainly way cool, but didn't address a market. It was too expensive for the home user, but not expandable enough for the power user. The "cracking" issue was not a crack, but a seam line created by the process that formed the plastic case of the cube.
