Well Mike, I suppose it was as good as it had to be. The fact of the matter is Kerry - and his supporters - do not under any circumstances - want people to focus on his senate record. Even Kerry does not want to focus on it himself. This is shown by the fact that he only spent 73 words on his acceptance speech at the DNC Convention discussing his 19 year senate career. This is how you completely disarm the liberal point of view - and this is why Ed will shy as far away from the argument as he can. They all love to say disrespectful things about the President. It is interesting that on one hand, all of these liberals say they support the troops - and yet - they will seize every opportunity to attack their commander-in-chief.
Yet another factoid to consider. With respect to his [Kerry] - missing 2/3 of the open meetings of the Intelligence Committee, he then claims that there were a number of private meetings that he did attend. Yet in the same breath, he will not allow the release of his attendance records.
Here is more... DNC chair Terry McAulliff was recently asked if Kerry made a mistake when he voted to freeze spending on nuclear armaments when the Soviets were ramping up their nuclear arsenal as well as being in the midst of the Afghan invasion and the attempted communist infiltration of Central America. He could not articulate a response.
Some final thoughts I put together a few nights ago in an email I sent to several Bush/Cheney 04 volunteers in our township. I think you will agree it goes a bit further then the Micheal Moore brand of politics the liberals love to spew out....
There can be no doubt that this is the most important election in our lifetime. We stand today at the precipice - between the war of good and evil. Today is the day when you have to declare your side. As a student of history, I go back to 1960 when President Kennedy stated in his inaugural address: Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. Interesting indeed a Democrat uttered those words.....sadly though, the type of Democrat that no longer exists in that party. Clearly, regimes, whether they were embodied in the former USSR or Iraq, stand apposite to the principles of freedom and liberty. And to that end, regardless of what the polling states, in the fine tradition of Ronald W. Reagan, has drawn the clear line in the sand. That clear line of course is the war on terror. Unlike any enemy of freedom and liberty our country and way of life has faced, Al Quada often is faceless, nameless, and perhaps most importantly, borderless. President Bush stated it best in his speech to the joint session of congress on 9/20. Here is the link: http://www.bushcountry.org/bush_speeches/president_bush_speech_092001.htm Take a moment and read the link. At this date, we know that President Bush has not wavered. At no time did President Bush state this war would be easy. In fact, he said it would be hard. History has taught us a similar lesson. In the 1930's, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain thought he had brokered peace with Nazi Germany. Some 60 years later, we know how that turned out. More importantly, we know the courage of those who stand in the face of what is momentarily popular opinion. The great statesman I refer to of course is Sir. Winston Churchill. The popular opinion today - it seems - that the war in Iraq is unjust, futile, a waste of time. Anybody who is student of history, who has paid even a little bit of attention to totalitarian regimes, knows that there can be no middle ground. Again, I refer you to the fight our country faces - between good and evil. There was no dealing with Adolph Hitler's Nazi German, there was no dealing with Saddam Hussein's Iraq, and ultimately, there can be no dealing with Osama Bin Laden's Al Quada. The strategy is clear - knock out the under-pinnings of support and finance, and you knock out the terrorists!! In his speech to the joint session of congress, he [President Bush] stated that this would be a tough war to win. And in the face of today's poll's, President Bush stands in opposition to what is supposedly the "popular belief". As you may have quickly noticed, this email is simply about the liberals vs. the conservatives or the democrats vs. the republicans. I'll leave that to those who wish to engage in idle/meaningless rhetoric. The teachings of history are on President Bush's side. The lessons of good and evil are on President Bush's side. When the Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1979, it took President Carter by surprise. This same President belittled the intelligence of Ronald Regan re: the latter's response to the growing threat of the communists. History of course has shown us that the Ronald Reagan had it right. And with that in mind, George W. Bush has it right as well.President Carter, and those like him [Neville Chamberlain], hoped that evil would simply "go away". In fact, President Carter encouraged dialog with totalitarian communist regimes. As we know all too well by now, these regimes will not simply "go away".
To ensure America's survival, to ensure that liberty endures, the fight must be taken to them. For if not, the fight will be taken to our doorstep - as it did on 9/11, as it is currently happening in Russia, as it happened in Madrid earlier this year.
