Never been to any of the devcon's or any seminars.
I guess you could say I've been in a 20 year haze, although I wouldn't consider it that way. I've lived out of motels since my divorce in 88 while contracting and rather then go back to an empty motel room I spent my evenings at whatever the local pub was playing darts and enjoying myself way too much, but I was allways bright eyed and bushy tailed come 6am and ready for work.
I don't think that makes me a bad person OR an incompetent person, and yes, I've been on the other side of the fence where I was married for 6 years and didn't hardly drink at all because I had kids and a family to raise.
So in answer to your question, I don't think because somebody drinks makes them incompetent and I personally think the current mindset of throwing everybody in jail because they have drank is not the optimum answer either.
Now I'm sure that you've run across some, as I have that let alcohol control their life and if that's the case, then yes it is a problem, but if not, then its none of anybody's goddamn business as long as they show up and do their job and they're part of the solution instead of part of the problem.

Guess you've never been to a Devcon in the last decade or so. ;-)
Yes, I enjoy a drink or six now and then.
Am I to infer from your question that you consider having an occasional drink the same as being in a 20-year alcholic haze?
