Hi Pete
Did you ever see the movie PT109. It was about John Kennedy's service as captain of a patrol boat, PT109. Both John Kerry and John Kennedy served as patrol boat captains, Kennedy around 1942 during WW II and Kerry around 1969 during Vietnam.
http://www.nationalgeographic.com/photography/galleries/pt109-WWII/ http://www.jfklibrary.org/jfk-manofsea-2.html I know "Profiles in Courage" by John Kennedy was not about himself. Below is a good description of Kennedy's book, which I found on Amazon.Com
#------------------------------------------------------------------ In 1954-55 a freshman U.S. Senator from Massachusetts wrote a book profiling eight of his historical Senatorial colleagues, such men as John Quincy Adams, Sam Houston, and Robert A. Taft. Instead of focusing on their storied careers, John F. Kennedy chose to illustrate their acts of integrity, when they stood alone against tremendous political and social pressure for what they felt was right. #------------------------------------------------------------------
Kennedy was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1956 for his book, "Profiles in Courage". I suppose he could have become a writer, for writing was definitely one of his many talents. Like Kerry, Kennedy did not hesitate when our country needed his service, and Kennedy, like Kerry put a great future on the line for this country. Kenndy's older brother, an Air Force pilot, wasn't so lucky and sacrificed his life in a dangerous booming mission over Germany. He volunteered for the mission even after being told that it was a suicide mission.
A country inevitably losses it finest young me during war, for they are the men that lead their troop into battle, and they are the first to fall when enemy fire begins. War is too costly in terms of valuable lives to ever be used politically. War should never be, unless there is absolutely no other way.

Hi Leland!
Run over to the library and pick up a copy of "Profiles in Courage". Hint: It is *not* about JFK, his service to America or John Kerry.
It takes an a**hole or at least an egotist to produce a film or a book about yourself, unless it is after you have retired. Kerry clearly qualifies, JFK did not.

Pete
