When my father died, his car remained in my mother's driveway for
years until we got a notice from the police that it should be
removed if it is not registered. The DMV gave me all kinds of
fits with getting a copy of the title since my father was dead
and we couldn't find any of the original paperwork.

My solution was to call around to several junkyards until I found
one willing to take it without a title.

If the car has no book value, that shouldn't be a problem, unless
your uncle comes back and decides to sue you (highly doubtful)
