Thanks for your responses. The notebook is going on a year old, the
extended warranty is timed to coincide with the end of the factory
warranty. Yes, I could replace it if it croaked completely. Probably have a
new one in three years in any case, because things change so fast. I guess
I'll skip it. Thanks again!
