It's really a coin toss Pete.
You can get a brand new Dell for 699.00. I would suspect you would have a much less than 1 in 3 chance of having a major repair, so if it were me, I'd pass on the warranty.
However,
Some people like the warm and fuzzy feeling of an extended warranty.
I usually misplace the paperwork anyway.
