If Iraq had destroyed all of its defensive capability and, for example, Iran
had invaded them would the US have depployed troops to defend it?

You have to remember that we're dealing with real people with very real
strengths and weaknesses.

What amazes me is how the entire left has forgotten what Saddam declared as
late as December 2002 that showed how he broke the last resolution.
How many people here remember that on that late of date, Saddam claimed to
still have VX nerve gas (3.9 tons worth), sarin gas (812 tons) and anthrax
(2,200 gallons) which placed in his missiles that we found that were capable
of going well beyond what the terms of the cease fire, could have wiped out
all of Israel. Or if brought over to our country, could have easily wiped
out all of New York along with a few other cities instead of 'just' losing
3,000 people.
