Kris:
I'm not sure that you disagree at all. Shops don't upgrade out of a fear that's been justified by the experiences of the past.
Around six years ago, I was sitting around in a hot-shot development shop: a former and a future MVP, a couple top MCSDs, well-known speakers, and one of the developers was upgrading some Microsoft software on her machine. After she started, she turned around to us and said "I sure hope this doesn't break anything." Everyone in the room burst out laughing.
Any questions?
