Isn't it a legacy dBase index type? (http://www.delphi32.com/info_facts/faq/faq_10.asp)

According to hackfox 7, " Back in the FoxBase and FoxPro 1.0 days, (it was) useful for temporarily creating a list of distinct values in a table"
