Hi. The announcement looks good. Thanks. I talked to Sherrie Smith and she had many good suggestions about the garage sale, since she organized the one at PHS. She says sorting is a priority, and it makes pricing go much faster. [books, electronics, household goods, furniture, sporting goods, clothes, etc.] People should check games before bringing them to my house. If they are in tact with all the pieces, they should put a post it on it saying "complete" and then seal it with tape. She says kids will open the games while you aren't looking at the sale and scatterer the pieces all over if it isn't taped shut. She suggested that anyone bring a cabana tent so that stuff is protected over in case of inclement weather. Also that could help categorize the stuff. She will bring over a few portable book shelves. She says that the Shopping Bag is a must for advertising. We should also do the Penfield Post Republican and should advertise it as "Huge 25 family garage sale" or however families donate.
Having some day hours to drop off stuff is a very good idea, she says. We will have to figure out who is off from work on Friday, May 24, to accept donations. Thursday evening as planned is good.
As for pricing, she says that rule of thumb is to price an item at 1/4 of its cost plus 10%. People will bargain, so that is where the 10% comes in.
Sherrie can attend our next garage sale meeting on Ap. 28, but can't arrive until 8. Can we have our start time 7:30 instead?
Things seem to be getting pulled together
