The UN is a direction, a concept, not a paragon of anything in it's present
condition.
[agreed - all countries involved have absolutely hindered the beastie to
remain solely a concept.
I reread Heinlein's works continuously, and one concept smacking at me about
the UN - is
UNTIL the UN is completely autonomous for everything ? All
bets/re-assurances/committments are not *THAT* important, since NONE will be
enforced in any way measurable]

But we still have a choice between fixing what's wrong with it -
[nope - you can't define 'WE'. tis physically impossible. When's the last
time you heard of a
UN peacekeeping force being deployed? Tis too f'ing political per country,
and the only reason India and Pakistan put forth PeaceKeepers to the UN is
that it puts money back in those countries. *PERIOD*. I would suggest you
follow the money]
or continuing to denigrate it as we fall back into becoming Fortress
America.
[There has always been a concept of 'the Balkanization of the Americas'. I
strongly recommend
you look at it again, and see how it really applies to your concept of
'Fortress America'. Let's limit
it to the landmass of CONUS, and draw your Balkanized maps as required.
Email me offline
when you finish your map. I would suggest, strongly, that you look at ad
revenues generated per spoken language - which of course, for CONUS, goes
ENGLISH, SPANISH, RUSSIAN, CANTONESE, MANDARIN, CZECH... but I am digressing
on your concept of FORTRESS AMERICA.
I really feel that we should shut down the borders for everything, pitch
Wal-Mart and its 90 percent of Chinese made goods out the window, and force
them to stay with American Manufacturers. Also pitch all
taiwanese/singapore/PRC/Malaysia/Indonesia produced computer goods (check
your office, lemme know what you have?) - but this requires that you
absolutely spec out, each time, ONLY USA manufactured goods. If you are
diligent, you can do it. IF you are sloppy, and don't give a sh|t about
place of origin, and only on price, then my standpoints are meaningless to
you. I suggest it solely because the money in the market drives
everything - and if you aren't following the money ? You are wasting my time
and yours.]
With each passing day, the morass of our invasion of the ME gets worse.
[this is where I went south - I don't understand what 'ME' stands for here
in your tome. ]

I suppose at this point there are a lot of people who think we're so far
beyond taking the UN approach that it's just a distant memory, but it's not
too late.
[Surreptitiously, the UN has always remained a concept, and a moving
definition. NO ONE can state
that the current state of the UN currently *IS* what was envisioned back in
its creation. YOU want the UN to do something? Give them power and
accountability, and call it a day. Stop your complaining and move on to the
wonderful world of logistics for the UN]
We can still fix it. [agreed - but do a TIMESTAMP and tell me as of
{timestamp}, why it's broken? I expect a 4000 word missive (no more, la) as
to why it's broken, with a point system of weights assigned to what should
be fixed first (NOTA BENE - NOT HOW TO FIX IT - but what is wrong, and the
weight)]
[if WE = USA politicos, citizens, et.al, I disagree. The EU, whilst you
were sleeping, has become more of a force politically in the UN than the G7,
ASEAN, and any SA coalition. Pay attention, please]
[did you know you can purchase space/time on newsmax ? for 1.5K I can get
anything I want up there, for a month. I am seriously doubting the
validity of anything quoted on NewsMax because of the left/right panels
available to me as an advertiser. WANT TO PITCH IN ? I'll fund a VFP ad if
you will track the clicks.]
Bill
[Mr. A - this wasn't an attack on you personally. BUT ? I find many faults
in your concepts, based on my time outside of US and following the money.]
