Hi whil,
How about Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird. Its a great app whether run on windows, unix, mac.

Also, what about NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-####-pkg1.run. The Redhat Linux update manager install new kernals on my system sometimes. I keep a copy of the NVIDIA driver in my home directory. After a new kernel is installed, I reboot to test the new kernel. After login to my home directory, and while in the text mode, I can type the name of the driver file to have it automatically build the driver into the new kernel. All I have to do is answer a series of yes or no question. The driver really super charges my Samsung 17 inche monitor and MSI MX440 64 MB DDR video card.
