Maybe, maybe not. So far as the Catholic church goes it's continued open
policy of precluding marriage must tend towards attracting or generating an
environment where abuse of this kind can flourish.

Hi Pete,

A recent study undertaken by the Catholic Church indicates sexual abuse
of children as a percentage of a given group may be most prevalent
within the Catholic Church. I would not be surprised if the same
problem did not exist within the Christian Church, even within the
Religious Right persuasion of religion.

Anyway, there definitely is a problem with sexual abuse of children
amount Catholic Priests. The problem seem go as high as four percent
of Catholic Priests have abused children.
