Anyone know if its possible to access a mobile phone WAP site via a regular browser?

I was just reviewing Yahoo's mobile messenger service:
http://mobile.yahoo.com/learn/landing?prop=messenger

and was wondering if I could interface to the Yahoo mobile messenger WAP service via a standard HTTP interface - thereby integrating this simple messenger capability within an application.

The Yahoo mobile messenger WAP interface itself looks incredibly simple (easy to control and parse).

My goal is to find an easy way to integrate a simple 3rd party instant messaging/chat type functionality into my fat client apps such that my apps can send instant message alerts to users and such that my app can listen and respond to incoming instant messages.

I would like to use a 3rd party service vs. having to host this type of service myself. BTW: It appears as if MS has closed all API interfaces to MSN Messenger 6.

I've taken a brief look at Jabber and ICQ - both these API's seemed complicated and required lots of files to distribute and update.

Thanks!
Malcolm
