I took a quick spin through the source code and...I still can't figure out what it does. :-) I suppose further investigation would unearth its purpose, but doubt it's worth the time to do so. Maybe if I get bored tomorrow...

The Hacker's Guide says: "This may be the most mysterious property we've encountered. It's documented only as a reserved word, appears in just about every form we've come across, but can't be accessed at runtime and doesn't seem to do much of anything."
