how much would it cost your company in dollars to rekey all the information?
How much would it cost your company in dollars in lost productivity for
sales people who do not have access to necessary data
How long would it take to find all the names, addresses, sales information ,
contact info for all your customers past and present through paper files
Where are the paper records? How up to date are they?

put dollar numbers to the answer of these questions and you will more than
prove that a one time cost for a tape backup has an excellent ROI.

Also, ask your boss if the company carries business insurance? If they do
ask, him what they pay for that and why they pay for it? The same reasoning
holds true for data backups.

Subject: Why backup?

Our tape drive that we used to backup up with got fried about a month
ago, and I do not think I have been able to convince my boss how
important and dire this is. Our company's entire foundation is built on
our name and sales databases. Could I get some responses on why it is
important to backup, and hear some horror stories of not backing up?
Thanks!
