Hi Ed!

During Gulf I (and remembering that I live in Sarasota, which is in the
Tampa Bay area) our then Choir director told a story during a practice break.

General Schwarzkopf and General Powell were walking in the desert. Suddenly
Schwarzkopf stopped and began kicking an object buried in the sand. This
horrified Powell who ran off a few feet and hit the deck exclaiming:
"General, be careful! That could be a mine! To which Schwarzkopf replied:
"A mine wouldn't *dare* blow a General's leg off!"

Presently Schwarzkopf dropped to his knees and dug the object up. It was
the mythical "Genie's Lamp"! He rubbed the lamp and out popped the Genie!

"Congratulations, General Schwarzkopf," the Genie said. "You have rubbed my
lamp and now I will grant you three wishes."

Schwarzkopf turned slightly to beam at the returning Powell. "Well,"
Schwarzkopf said to the Genie, "you know who I am, and this is General
Powell. We are here to bring about peace in the middle east so, of course,
that would be my first wish; Peace in the Middle East."

The Genie was crestfallen. "As soon as I saw who you were I was afraid you
would ask me for that," he said. "Please understand, I am only a Genie,
what you are asking for, only God can do with certainty. After all, these
people are all crazy and they have been fighting each other for centuries,
but I *will* work on it. Meanwhile, what is your second wish."

"Oh," said Schwarzkopf, "You would have no way of knowing this, but in fact
I am a bit of a sports lover. Now I occasionally make small bets - only a
dollar - with my friends over sporting events. If you could arrange for the
Tampa Bay Bucs to win the Super Bowl . . ."

The Genie replied: "Let's go back to your first wish . . ."

Peace is right around the corner.

Regards,

Pete
