Lew,
I like to generate .doc files by using textmerge() and RTF codes. I = build a "template" using Word, save this document as RTF, and then open = up the .rtf file and look at the codes required to achieve specific = formatting - essentially reverse engineering the RTF spec to fit my = requirements.
I then create my own RTF file with << >> delimiters and use textmerge() = to fill in the blanks. Word automatically detects file types by looking = at file headers, so you can use textmerge() to create a RTF file with a = .doc extension and Word will open it fine.

I'd like to know the list's current 3rd party product preferences (& reasons) for generating and reading .pdf's and .doc's. Reading them back & parsing them into VFP is of particular interest. -Lew
