The Hyatt does sound like an interesting case study. On the surface, it would seem that walls of all kinds, other signals floating around, etc., would make such a project impossible, but if it can be done, it sure would be interesting to see in operation.

Nope, I mean real line of sight. I've seen articles where people have done 5 mile line-of-sight networks across the plains.. But that's for extending a network by deploying an additional AP. It's not a single 'wide area' covered by one AP.
Here's my example, and what happened when I started looking into doing this.
