My situation is a definitive switch from desktop to laptop before leaving on my trip. The desktop will not be used at all in my absence. Then on my return I will switch back to the desktop and the laptop will no longer be used for email.
I can see that setting up the laptop POP3 rules to leave the messages on the server is the proper way to go, especially if the situation is more fluid. That allows me to retrieve email with my laptop at any time. However...
I like the idea of having my entire set of up-to-date mailboxes on the laptop because I am frequently going back and reviewing earlier emails (particularly ProFox OT messages!). For that reason, I will probably copy all mailbox folders (*.fol) and mailboxes (*.mbx/*.toc) to the laptop and then back again (Paul's original suggestion).
