Hi Pete,=20

I don't have a clue. I can answer your question about the google search. =
I have a non-traditional setup with Cox Communication, because I'm =
running my site out of my house with a static IP to connect into their =
network. Their normal arrangement is to sell either a hosting =
arrangement or a dedicated server throughout their business arm. =
Everyone else coming in to their entertainment cable service is =
considered a strictly ISP customer that is being sold access into the =
Internet through them. Cox has special software that runs constantly =
that is designed specifically to discover anyone ISP customer, as =
opposed to hosting customer, over port 80. Anyone doing such would be =
considered illegal.=20

About once each month I would loss my cable connection for a couple of =
days because I would turn up as someone illegally running a web site out =
of my house using their ISP server. It usually took me a couple to two =
or three days to get the connection reestablished and to get my site =
back online. Cox finally moved me to there business arm, but still the =
customary service it provides is either hosting or dedicated server =
using their own equipment. I had to do a new contract and they raised =
my rate per month to $84.48 per month. I signed a three-year contract =
and received their highest speed connection.=20

There was a period of time when my site went for about 2 week without =
any hits whatsoever. Although I could bring my sight up locally, I =
suspected something was wrong because of a lack of hits. I when down to =
CompUSA and tried to access my site from there, I couldn't make a =
connection. I got on the phone and called Cox. The technician they had =
assigned to me, and who I had long since become well acquainted, =
couldn't find anyway to come into my network over port 80. I was asked =
to ping port 443 which is the standard Secure Socket Layer for high =
encryption web access port, and that worked.=20

I had to reconfigure my apache web server, create a new SSL signature, =
contact my interNIC registrar, and change the signature I used on all my =
forums, change my business cards, etc to the new https://www.smvfp.com. =
It was amazing how much work such a little change generated. Although =
Cox never admitted it, they were the ones blocking anyone coming into my =
system over port 80, as I discovered by using some IP tracing software.=20

I ran my site in this configuration for about two years. Just recently I =
upgraded my apache web server to V 2.0.45 along with php V 4.3.1 and I =
notice port 80 was working again, so I switched back to a normal port 80 =
web site using http://www.smvfp.com. I never liked the SSL web =
configuration, because it caused all kinds of little nuisances, and =
really slowed down the loading of web pages, and also caused pages to =
hang where it's necessary to constantly refresh when switch between =
pages. Also, it made my site unavailable to many users in the =
international community that are not allow to have an IE browser that =
supports 128 bit high encryption.=20

Abilene is a small town of around 110,000 people and we are really lucky =
to have laser cable coming through here, so Cox is the only choice I =
have, if I want high speed internet access for my web site.=20

It's to bad you are not able to take a look at my web site. I'm =
completely at a loss. If you also were interested in taking a look at my =
Accounting Application, I would be happy to mail it to you on a CD/RW, =
if you have a CD-ROM that can read it.=20

Hi Leland!

I'm home now. I tried it on Mozilla under Linux and IE 5 on the =
Windows
side of the other box. I got a pop-up about a missing child on the =
Linux
side and "this page cannot be displayed" on the Windows side. Then I =
went
to google and did a search on you and got two links, one was a log in. =
I
tried them both - no luck.

Maybe my ISP guy doesn't like your server. Is someone else using your
server to send spam, with or without your knowledge? George is on a =
jihad
about spam, very effectively, I might add. I usually get only one spam =
per day.

I will do the trace thing later, only one phone line and I am on it on =
this
one right now.

Regards,

Pete
