I start tomorrow morning at 6.31 (train 5160 + 6608) arriving at Paris gare
de Lyon at 10.01.
I will be on Champs Elysées until etwa 19.00 - 20.00
I will be with some friends of the French National railways ....
For all others, the SNCF is showing itself on the most famous avenue in the
world : the Champs Elysees in Paris. There are some locomotives (steam
locomotives, railcar, TGV, ...), and some waggons. Other companies (as
Bombardier) have 'showrooms' all along the avenue.
For the tomorrow show (on sunday) they have built a 2km track and a train
will run on it (well run is not the word, max speed will be 3 km/h (even in
mph it is not a lot !)).
The TGV locomotive ran from Calais to Marseille (that is 1061 km) in 3h31mn.
It is the best world record (I mean we have the speed record (515 km/h) but
it was an 'experiment' and a short trip. The 'operation sardine' was done
with a standard TGV and the record is about mean speed and not max speed).
Hey USA, you should buy our TGV !! ;-))
