Woody,
I'm planning on Essential Fox and Whilfest but at this time am leaning towards not going to Advisor Devcon due to COST, Location and again COST. The cost to be at an expensive resort that you can't see or enjoy is just plain expensive. Plus the last time I went to Palm Springs the flight before me got cancelled and I got bumped and had to fly to San Diego and then drive more than slightly above the speed limit to get to Palm Springs.
For the Russ's first conference last year, I thought Essential Fox was great. I was the next to last one to register and I'm glad I did. I didn't decide to go until Friday afternoon and then drove across the state to get there. It was a great trip and it's fairly close to home for me.
Then last fall I went to Whilfest for the first time and thought it was awesome too since there wasn't the push of other MS technologies like had been done at some of the past Advisor Conferences I had been to. There had been several Advisor conferences in the past that seemed to be more MS Marketing than a VFP conference and others felt the same way from what I remember. The other thing about the Advisor Devcon is the cost of a Vendor booth which last year cost $2800 which is way out there compared to FREE at Whilfest and very inexpensive at Essential Fox.
See you at EFOX! Then you can tell me how I did on the German translation on my Report Engine. <g>

So what is your preferred U.S. DevCon for this year?
a) Essential Fox (http://www.essentialfox.com/) b) Advisor DevCon (http://advisorevents.com/event/CMX0306) c) GLGDW (http://www.hentzenwerke.com/glgdw/zglgdw.htm)
For the first time in 11 years, I decided to not do the Advisor Conference, but instead choose the "Essential Fox" DevCon. Why? Mainly because two things: Money and timeframe.
Advisors will cost me $1095 plus about $800 for Hotel and $1100 flight (MUC - PSP). That's about 3000 US$ in total. The EF will go for 699$ plus about 600$ hotel plus 550$ flight (MUC-MCI). Makes 1850$ or a difference of 1150$ And EF could be 100$ cheaper if I would have registered earlier (silly me); but alas, the Advisor would be 200$ more later on, thus for me, the max difference could be as high as about 1500$ in total.
Even though the Palm Springs Resort is a beautiful area, you can't really take notice of it, since you're in the conference rooms the whole day long... Thus you pay a lot for something you can't really use.
BTW, What puzzles me is the major difference in airtravel (both rates are done with Expedia).
Hey Russ, I'm coming! <g> Only bad thing: It seems that the rollercoasters are only opened at Sat/Sun, thus I would have to miss some conference... <duh>
