I like it: ask a question, and then supply your own incorrect answer.
There would be consequences if a) any WMD were found or b) the inspectors were prevented from carrying out their inspections. IOW, *actual events* would have to happen. Instead, the US delegation would not agree to that; the only option acceptable to them was a calendar date, and one within the following few weeks.
