Ken,

You might want to check that Zone Alarm hasn't made itself resident
and closed those ports.

Email servers by default use 110 for POP3, 25 for SMTP and 143
for IMAP, but an email client will usually choose an internal port
above 1024 to talk to port 110.

A firewall usually needs to be setup to allow inbound traffic from
external ports 25, 110 and 143 to any internal port above 1024.
