It needs to be running for that test to be successful. Start the Email = server as normal, and try to telnet to port 110. When you get in, type = "USER <yourusername>" and hit enter. Then "PASS <yourpassword>" and hit = enter. You'll receive no local echo, mostly likely. You should now get = some info back from the server. If not, type "LIST" to get a list of = waiting messages.

Do you have any local firewall software as someone else suggested? It = could be causing problems...
