Hi Bob,
Don't forget, VFP 8.0 adds a new, reusable, DE class also, which you will probably want to use as the base class of your DE object.
Absotively! How could I forget? I am glad that my classes aren't further along than they are. I know several folks besides myself who will be able to throw out whole wads of classes and code as a result of some of the VFP8 features.
So much cool stuff to do, so few people using FoxPro. It really is too bad.
I know. But when I hear about things like Brian Jones getting the CFast contract, I am quite heartened. I believe the opportunities for Fox are as great as ever. Microsoft will never market it, but they will never have to, because it sells itself.
You can be so much more productive today in VFP than you can in .Net.
I have watched folks struggle with the learning curve moving from Fox windows to VFP. I can't imagine that there will be enough folks competent in DotNet soon enough to avoid more disasters. I don't see how you can use DotNet without some serious design methodology. It seems to me that in the area of software development the architecture is somewhat behind the tools.
