<i><font color="#663300">Hi BOb,
<i><font color="#663300">YES! This looks very much like what I want to do.</font></i>
The part that most interests me is using a table to define the E-R model as the WebObjects site described on the <a href="http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/webobjects/WebObjectsOverview/EnterpriseObjects/Mapping_You_base_Tables.html">Mapping Your Enterprise Objects to Database Tables</a> page.
</font></i>
Actually, I think it will take as much time (if not more) to write the IDE to define the mappings and relationships as it will to design and implement the persistence classes.
I am thinking:
Level 1 FreeWare - includes the persistence layer with support for local data
Level 2 Buy It - includes level 1 plus an IDE and SQL Server support.
Someone that wants to market the Oracle support would make it a nice round product!
BOb
