Well, yeah, sort of <g>. The point of doing the app is not to teach design; it's to help teach implementation.
The reason I chose this app is that it is a subset of another app I've developed, so I figured I could re-use parts of the original design without having to go through the whole process over again. And actually, the point of design is to make sure that the app you develop matches the business processes required for the actual use; since there is no actual business, there isn't much of a worry that the app will not match the business needs <g>.
