I know that most everyone I have spoken to about SQL backends say they prefer using SQL Passthrough rather than remote views, if for no other reason than speed.

Andy Kramek has some data classes that he has used extensively in production and when I head down this road, it is my intention to to do my best to see whether I can incorporate them in some way into the framework. He had an article in FPA Dec 1997 that I believe would be well worth reading even if the retrofit is too much work for you to consider.

Thanks, Pamela. I'll take a look. I want to play with remote views and the Codebook framework to get a feel for that way of doing it.

I have a possible consulting job with a company here that uses Foxpro as its front end and SQL Server as the back end, and they use Passthrough. I intend to play with both. But since I HAVE a Codebook-based app that I can play with ...
